About Us
With a little bit of money, a lot of determination and a good following of loyal clients Kevin and his partner Tom Goldtrap started Jones’ Landscape Care Company in January, 1988. Since that time, the company has grown and evolved. The partnership became a corporation in 1992. In 1996 they purchased their present office and land in Arvada. In 1998 they purchased Denver Forestry Tree and Plant Health Company, which was started in 1918. In 1999 the Corporation chose to change the business name to Jones Tree & Lawn, Inc. “We chose our original name Jones’ Landscape Care, with the intention that it would describe our services as all inclusive to landscape plant maintenance.” However, we found that most everyone thought we were “landscaping contractors” which is not what we specialize in . A name says a lot so we thought it best to change our name to describe what we do best: maintain trees & lawns
The original co-founders pictured here (Kevin on the left and Tom on the right) are both ISA Certified Arborists and are Qualified Supervisors through the Colorado Department of Agriculture for pesticide application. Kevin served on the Horticulture Advisory Committee board at Warren Tech. and has taught educational seminars at the Colorado ProGreen Exposition.
In 2017, ownership began to shift. Kevin Smith and Megan Radway were loyal employees of the company for over 15 years. Kevin & Tom offered them the opportunity to purchase the company. Kevin and Megan have slowly transitioned as the new owner/operators so it was a smooth transition for our clients and team members.
Kevin has a degree in Forestry from the University of Vermont with over 20 years in the green industry. Kevin moved out to Colorado in 2007 to be closer to family and has been working for Jones Tree & Lawn ever since. He started as an entry level groundsman and PHC technician, moved up the ladder to eventually become President of the company in 2021. He is a certified arborist through the ISA and a licensed Qualified Supervisor with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. He has a passion for trees, educating clients and developing a management plan for your landscape.
Megan has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from the University of Colorado Denver. She began her journey at Jones as a file clerk and moved up the ranks after she graduated. Megan is grateful to continue the Jones' legacy of a stunning reputation in business.
Dedicated to their profession and industry, both owners and employees attend industry educational seminars and workshops and hold in house training sessions in order to stay up to date with ever changing tree & lawn care techniques, laws and pest control products.
We feel that the more we know about our profession is more information we can pass on to our clients. The more our clients know about their landscape makes it easier to work together with realistic expectations and goals.
